Whole Lifecycle Building Performance Modelling Survey - The Results
Very good tip, short but right to the point, keep it up 👌
Good video, can you do a tech-tip with this kind of workflow in it, but using it for rapid iteration modelling? E.g. testing 3-4 solar shading configuration?
Today, the best way to do that is VE's new parametric tool. That wouldn't work for complex shades though, and you won't have access to full results beyond the parametric report. If that limits your use case, your best bet would be using the VE API. You could save each set of shades to a gbXML file and use the ImportGBXML API in a for loop to accomplish this. We (Zero Envy) have a video on our YT channel that shows our custom parametric tool that shows something similar in action (although no geometry import currently). It's possible though :)
We have developed Parametric Simulation specifically to address this task as efficiently as possible. Find out more about Parametric Simulation here: ruclips.net/video/qbkRFIHK46I/видео.htmlsi=-JSfA0-lqCh8C2Z5

I do not get the file options what to do?
Just be aware that when you paste the 8 W/m² of internal gain using Tabular Space Data as shown in the video, it doesn't automatically update the equivalent power consumption, which it probably should by default.
If you edit the gain then the power should take the value as well. If this is not working for you, please report it to our support team. www.iesve.com/support/contact
@@IESVE The video shows that it is not working. See at 3'47".
Is this available to users currently with access to Apache in IES 2024? or is it an additional bolt-on which needs to be purchased for Apache?
Yes this is a bolt-on, please reach out to your local IES representative or email sales@iesve.com to discuss your package?
How do I put more than one search term in the thermal templates search pattern field?
It relies on the user to know Perl regular expressions syntax so the OR operator is the bar. e.g. if I have two rooms on the template called default and a room on the template called default2, I can auto assign all three to a Group based on the rule ^default$|^default2$
@@IESVE Do I put this in the Room Name Search Pattern field? Thanks for the reply
@@AdamWrigley See example image here: www.iesve.com/support/images/thermal-template.jpg
@@IESVE So all I have to do is replace the names you've used with my own?
@@IESVE Simply entering ^Corridor$|^Lobby$ didn't work for me unfortunately as those are the two name types I'm trying to put in one group
I am all for this!. Keep them coming please. One I'd like to see in the future will be about when would a roof area be modeled as a shade and a tech tip on constructions.
Thanks for the great feedback 😀 We would usually only model a roof as a shade for the parts of the roof that extend past the building (such as the eaves) and offer shading. We model unconditioned spaces as voids, so we would for example model the attic space in a house as a void.
It seems that the plane setting of free-standing PV panel is missing from IES 2022 version so the elevation of the panels cant be adjusted. Is there anyway I could do that?
If you have lots of glazing that would split across model zones, you could speed up this drawing process by pulling the 'dummy' zone back from your geometry by say 1m - drawing in all your glazing to match the DXF - then moving back 1m to be adjacent to the 'real' spaces (use the rebuild command to regenerate adjacencies and the model will cut all those windows appropriately)
Thanks Steve, that’s a great suggestion that works well!
Good video!
Hi, Could you please let me know how to see this tab in applications tab as i couldn't see this option in user interface.
Thank you
That's amazing feature! Happy to join!
Excellent stuff, are you going to release any of the materials for free on youtube?
Hey! There's a lot of free to access courses available on the IES On-Demand Learning site: distance-learning.iesve.com/ And we also have some new VE content coming to RUclips soon!

Thanks for the video, good content.
Hello IES team Does the same method applied on a building that has a un-flat surface? For example, an building has a section wall that sticks out of the surface? Thank you for your time and the video!
can I get a soft copy of this file?
Can I get a copy of this project?

The PV generation calculation seems not to consider shading from trees or shading geometry, am I right?
Nice
this is great. do we have anything like this for 2022?
How to prepare a Revit file to IESVE? I can't import anything in the IESVE as I don't know what to export even with the right file chosen.
Is this updated?
Bullshit
